Project Manager SAP AMS
Background:
Our client, a leader in the Paper, Packaging, and Pulp industry, is embarking on a strategic transition to a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (SAP S/4HANA). Their objective is to optimize business processes, improve cross-departmental information flow, and enhance data management capabilities.
We are seeking a results-driven IT Project Manager with hands-on experience implementing an Off-shore SAP Application Management Services (AMS) support process using SAP RISE services. This is a hybrid role requiring both strong project leadership and practical execution capabilities. The ideal candidate combines traditional project management skills with a proactive “doer” mindset — someone who not only identifies critical actions but also actively executes them.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring a successful handover from SAP deployment to steady-state support within our client’s multi-year, multi-site ERP transformation initiative. It requires close coordination with all project workstreams, the cutover/deployment team, IT support teams, and the global Service Desk to establish an efficient, ITIL-aligned support process.
The main location for this role is the Solna Office, but our client has operations primarily in Sweden, Finland, and the U.S. Some travel may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of SAP AMS support with an Off-shore outsourcing partner, ensuring alignment with global support models and ITIL practices.
- Act as the bridge between the SAP project team and the AMS provider, managing expectations, workflows, and handover processes.
- Define and operationalize key ITSM processes, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management, in collaboration with the AMS partner and internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with the Service Desk team to design and implement practical tools and templates, such as a structured incident intake form to ensure actionable tickets are passed to AMS.
- Example: Not only identify the need for a Service Desk incident intake template but also collaborate in creating it or independently develop it using best practices.
- Lead efforts to define the responsibility boundaries between ERP program deliveries and AMS, such as development and release management.
- Engage across all project workstreams to identify, capture, and organize handover content and support topics required post go-live.
- Ensure a smooth and structured cutover to AMS support, partnering with the Cutover/Deployment team and key stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain the AMS transition plan, including resource alignment, process validation, knowledge transfer, and readiness assessments.
- Manage risks, issues, and escalations related to AMS setup and transition.
- Foster a collaborative relationship with the AMS provider, ensuring service level expectations and quality standards are clearly communicated and met.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Background:
- College or University degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Professional Experience:
- 10+ years of IT Project Management experience, ideally in global or multi-regional environments.
- Proven hands-on experience implementing SAP AMS support models, preferably with India-based outsourcing partners.
- Experience with SAP RISE services and understanding of roles and responsibilities needed to split support across SAP, IT, and AMS providers.
- Solid understanding of SAP S/4 HANA environments, including typical AMS support needs across modules.
- Strong knowledge of the ITIL framework, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Knowledge Management processes.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills across business, technical, and vendor teams.
- Comfortable working at both strategic and tactical levels – capable of leading planning while also executing deliverables.
- Experience working closely with Cutover/Deploy teams and participating in transition-to-support phases of ERP projects.
- Ability to take ownership of deliverables – from planning to execution – including documentation, process development, and stakeholder alignment.
- Fluent in English.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter with a “get-it-done” attitude who can work independently and in teams.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to lead effective group sessions both in person and remotely.
- Strong written and spoken English language skills.
- Attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced, global project environment
