Release Lead – Source to Pay

Our client, a prominent player in the Paper and Pulp industry, is undergoing a strategic transformation by implementing a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The objective is to streamline business operations, enhance cross-functional information sharing, and strengthen data management capabilities. The ERP implementation (S/4HANA) and other SAP solutions are being delivered in “Releases”, each of which includes at least one production Mill business go-live.

The program comprises several workstreams. This position is for a dedicated Release Lead within the Source to Pay area, covering elements of SAP S/4HANA and SAP Ariba. The Release Lead will be fully accountable for delivering the assigned Source to Pay scope, ensuring optimal solutions from both a business and system standpoint.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the delivery of the Release scope, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.
• Report to the Source to Pay Work Stream Lead and collaborate closely with the Implementation Partner’s Release Lead on daily activities.
• Provide business context and expertise, driving the selection of the best possible solution for the company.
• Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure all requirements are addressed, balancing interim and target state solutions.
• Take ownership of the SAP Ariba scope – further develop the rollout plan and roadmap in collaboration with the Business and Implementation Partner, and oversee the build and delivery of the solution.
• Act as the Deployment Lead for Source to Pay in the Release – plan and execute mock loads and cutover activities with the S2P and Business teams.
• Ensure decision points are clearly identified, prepared, and resolved.
• Monitor and manage risks and issues, escalating unresolved matters to Program Management when needed.
• Manage and coordinate resources for the Release, in close collaboration with the Business Process Lead, Work Stream Lead, and Global Process Owner.
• Align and coordinate activities with other workstreams to ensure cross-functional consistency.
• Work closely with Program Enablement teams, including Test, Data & Migration, Deployment, Change Management, and Roles & Authorization.
• Ensure stakeholder engagement, organize meetings, and manage expectations throughout the program.

Mandatory Requirements:

• University degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA and SAP Ariba.
• 10+ years of proven experience in project management across both business and IT domains, preferably in the paper and pulp or similar industries.
• Experience addressing process and cross-process challenges, including gap analysis and resolution.
• 10+ years of experience in the Source to Pay or Procurement domain.
• Strong background with both custom-built and ERP systems, including knowledge of integration complexities.
• Experience working on large-scale implementation programs, preferably in collaboration with a System Integrator (SI).
• Proven ability to manage change from both business and technical perspectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Project Management and/or Scrum Master certification.
• Experience with SAP Fieldglass and SAP Business Network is a plus.
